Penn State Football’s leading wide receiver from 2023, KeAndre Lambert-Smith entered the transfer portal this week after being away from the team for the final week of spring practice, including the Blue-White Game last Saturday.

Now officially in the portal, Lambert-Smith has been contacted by teams across the country for his services for 2024.

According to On3 Sports, “Texas A&M, Auburn, Colorado, Georgia, and West Virginia are among the teams who have contacted the wide receiver.”

“West Virginia provides the opportunity to step in and immediately become a threat in the passing game,” Pete Nakos of On3 Sports adds. Interestingly for Lambert-Smith, WVU would also give the fifth-year wide receiver to play against the Nittany Lions in 2024, as Penn State heads to West Virginia in Week 1.

How Losing KeAndre Lambert-Smith Impacts Penn State Football Passing Game

Lambert-Smith‘s departure came as a bit of a surprise, as HE was in line to start again for the Nittany Lions as their leading returning wide receiver. Penn State head coach James Franklin mentioned earlier this spring that he thought Lambert-Smith had a “good spring” where he showed “real flashes” on a more consistent basis. Franklin and the Nittany Lions were counting on Lambert-Smith in the passing game in 2024 and will now likely look for a replacement in the portal to supplement the young talent on the roster. While its still early in the process for Lambert-Smith, heading to WVU would be an interesting storyline for both the talented wide receiver and the Nittany Lions heading into week one next season.
