Scouting report on new Sooner WR Justin Brown

The rumored transfer of Penn State refugee Justin Brown to Oklahoma became official Saturday, according to ESPN's Joe Schad. Brown was the Nittany Lions' top receiver a year ago, which on its face, sounds a lot like a "tallest midget" kind of thing if you know anything about PSU's offense. I asked my buddy and Penn St. expert Kevin McGuire of Nittany...

WR Justin Brown Leaves Penn State

Wide receiver Justin Brown is the latest player to leave the program in the aftermath of NCAA sanction. Sources say he will join the Oklahoma Sooners. The senior wideout’s name was dropped from the roster Sunday. He would have been a key target in the revamped passing game under new coach and former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien. Nine players have now left...

Ex-Penn State WR Justin Brown joins Sooners

Former Penn State receiver Justin Brown has arrived at Oklahoma. Coach Bob Stoops announced Tuesday that Brown is now on the roster, bolstering an inexperienced group of receivers. Brown will be eligible to play this season because of the NCAA's penalties against Penn State following the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case. Brown was the second-leading receiver for the Nittany...

Penn State trustee files NCAA appeal

As we noted here two weeks ago, the manner in which sanctions were handed down for Penn State’s football program raise some troubling questions regarding due process.  Now, a member of the Penn State board of trustees has retained counsel, and filed an appeal with the NCAA on just those grounds.  Ryan McCombie, a new [...]

Is this Penn State's new football helmet?

Penn State quarterback Steven Bench has finally arrived in State College after a long travel ordeal, and now he tweets images of his new football helmet. For fans of Penn State football, there may be a clear change to the helmet Penn State will wear this season, the removal of the blue stripe down the middle. UPDATE: Garry Gilliam confirms this is how the helmets always look for...

Joe Paterno, Penn State and the Pointless Loss of Wins

With the new Penn State penalties in place, Bobby Bowden is now the winningest coach in NCAA history. Except he’s not. As one of their punishments, Penn State and Joe Paterno “officially” lost 112 wins from 1998 to this past season. However, what does this penalty actually accomplish? The answer: a whole lot of nothing. Now, I have to preface this argument by stating that...

Why yes, Jeff Ross did show up to Comedy Central’s roast of Roseanne Barr dressed as Joe Paterno

Too soon? Comedians are supposed to push the boundaries of good taste, and that’s exactly what Jeffrey Ross did when he showed up to Comedy Central’s taping of the roast of Roseanne Barr dressed as late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.  Ross accentuated the costume with two young men clad in football helmets and towels and nothing else. The raunchy comic even had a great...
