The longest, cruelest offseason in all of sports is coming to an end, and the first week of the college football season will bring us some great games. Alabama versus Virginia Tech, LSU versus TCU, Georgia versus Clemson, and, um, 50 percent of the Big Ten taking on 46 percent of the MAC. You know the drill. It’s week one of the season, there are great games, they’re pretty much all in other conferences, but you’re going to watch anyway, because FOOTBAW! Crack open a cold one, throw a couple low-fat reduced sodium chicken brats on the grill (we are middle-aged now and must worry about such things), and settle in for a full slate of voluntary athletic department wealth redistribution.
