Week 9 of the Buckeye Empire Summer Series, continues with the theme from week 8, The Offensive Line. The big boys in the trenches are going to have to be big again this year to keep Braxton Miller’s Heisman hopes alive as well as the hopes of the team finishing the season with a national title.   With four seniors returning from last year’s starting offensive line there is going to only one open slot. There will be a lot of younger players who will be vying for a spot on the two deep depth chart and that includes redshirt Sophomore Kyle Dodson. Kyle hails from Cleveland, Ohio where he played his high school football at Cleveland Heights. As a Junior Kyle was held out for the season due to concerns about his spine after an MRI for an aching back, worried his doctors. Finally he was cleared and played his senior year and led his team to its first playoff game. You may remember he was recruited by Wisconsin and actually chose to play for the Badgers in 2011. But once Coach Urban Meyer took the driver’s seat of this team Dodson changed his mind and came to Ohio State. The choice that he made selecting Ohio State gave his grandmother the woman who raised Kyle after his mother’s tragic death when he was 11, more access to see him play football. Kyle was a true freshman entering the 2012 season and was redshirted after having shoulder surgery midway through last season.  Kyle did participate in the 2013 spring game and was a member of the Gray squad. Kyle and the rest of the gray squad played well, only allowing quarterbacks Kenny Guiton and Cardale Jones; each to be sacked once. Hopefully Kyle will continue to get better and will have no more setbacks, so he can continue following his dream and one day achieve his dream of playing for the Cleveland Browns.
