In today’s Fact or Fiction — transfer portal edition — I look at three big recent topics from the transfer portal and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Grayson McCall should not have played.

Farrell’s take: FACT

The Coastal Carolina QB is a gamer that’s for sure. He shouldn’t have returned so soon at the end of the season after a high ankle sprain and he shouldn’t have played in the bowl game against East Carolina. The man is in the transfer portal, his coach has left and now he’s dealing with an apparent head injury that knocked him out of the Birmingham Bowl. I’m all for playing for your team but when you’re leaving, why risk injury?

2. TE CJ Dippre is worth the fuss.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Dippre is a big target and had a solid year for the Terps but when he entered the portal and it came down to Alabama and Ohio State I was like whaaaat? I know tight ends are always popular in the transfer portal and many schools see them as a fit in their offenses but I’ve heard some say he’s the best right end in the portal and that’s just not true.

3. QB Garrett Nussmeier will enter the portal.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Jayden Daniels is coming back to LSU so now it’s time to see if Nussmeier or Walker Howard will leave. Howard just finished his freshman season last year while Nussmeier would be coming back for year three with two years left after that. He’s shown flashes of the talent we saw out of high school and better situations are out there for him. He’s probably gonna jump.
