Missouri ready to apply to SEC soon
Missouri applying to the SEC is “inevitable and imminent” according to a report by Pete Thamel, of the New York Times.
A source with direct knowledge of Missouri’s plans informed Thamel that the university is in the process of applying for membership to the SEC, saying that the decision to apply is “inevitable and imminent,” but did not have an exact timeframe to share. Thamel reports that Missouri’s Board of Curators will meet at the end of the week and it is expected they will discuss the procedure to leave the Big 12 and apply to the SEC.
According to the report, Missouri expects there to be little standing in the way of securing enough votes from SEC presidents to join the conference. Previous reports have suggested that Missouri may not have the support needed to be accepted in to the conference. Missouri would be the SEC’s 14th member.
