Report: Ohio State to Host UCLA Transfer DB Kamari Ramsey

The Ohio State Buckeyes could be on the cusp of landing a coveted defensive back in the transfer portal.

Per 247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, Ohio State is set to host UCLA Bruins safety transfer Kamari Ramsey for an official visit this weekend. The Washington Huskies will also be hosting him for a visit.

A member of UCLA's 2022 recruiting class, Ramsey saw an increased role this season after receiving minimal action as a freshman. The Palmdale, Calif. native appeared in 11 games (all starts) this season while posting 40 total tackles, four passes defended and one interception.

This leap in production was notable considering Ramsey had just five total tackles in just four appearances in 2022.

This makes it more impressive that Ramsey's services are now desired by some of the top teams in the country. Following his OVs, he'll get to watch how the two squads he's set to visit will fare during some big games in bowl season, as No. 7 Ohio State will face No. 9 Missouri at the Cotton Bowl before No. 2 Washington takes on No. 3 Texas in the College Football Playoff semis at the Sugar Bowl.

Ramsey started for an impressive UCLA defense this year, as the Bruins surrendered the 11th-fewest offensive yards per game (299.0) in the country during the regular season.

But meanwhile, the Ohio State secondary led the nation in fewest passing yards allowed per game (147.4). The unit could be bolstered by the addition of Ramsey, even with some potential NFL departures.
