Saving The Worst For Last, No. 6 USC Blows Out Stanford In Final Meeting

For the second straight week, Stanford was on the road but this time they found themselves playing one of the best teams in the country, No. 6 USC.

It was clear shortly into the game, that the Cardinal were overmatched, as USC built a quick 21-0 lead in the first quarter while Stanford was struggling to move the ball forward at all. Stanford was only able to generate 36 total yards of offense in the first half, and quarterback Ashton Daniels ended up leaving the game in the second quarter due to an injury. Daniels settled for 2 of 7 passing for just 19 yards and a pick.

This gave Syracuse Justin Lamson a chance to play, and while he and the offense still struggled to move the ball, he did have more success than Daniels going 8-of-18 for 121 yards. Lamson scored the lone touchdown for Stanford on a 1-yard rush, but as expected it was the Caleb Williams show.

The 2022 Heisman winner accounted for four total touchdowns and was picking apart the defense before they could even realize what happened.

According to USC reporter Keely Eure, the 56-10 win for USC marks the most points that the Trojans had scored against Stanford tonight since the matchup began in 1905.

Stanford is set to host Troy Taylor's former team Sacramento State in Week 3 for what will be the first home game of the Taylor era.
