Kansas State coach Bill Snyder has been voted the AP Big 12 coach of the year after leading the Wildcats to the third conference championship in school history and a berth in the Fiesta Bowl. The Wildcats' only loss came at Baylor late in the season, when they had climbed to No. 1 in the BCS standings. They rebounded to beat Texas last Saturday to wrap up their first Big 12 title since 2003, when Snyder was still in his first tenure at Kansas State. Snyder also won the award last season, when he led the Wildcats to the Cotton Bowl, and in 1998, when Kansas State came up just short of playing for a national championship. The only other three-time winner of the award is Oklahoma's Bob Stoops.

Steady K-State QB Klein a Heisman Trophy finalist

Collin Klein is the Heisman Trophy finalist who fits no mold. He was lightly recruited out of high school in Colorado and ultimately chose to attend Kansas State, a program that had fallen on hard times. He was turned into a wide receiver, and then went back to being a quarterback, where he sat on the bench and bided his time. It's finally come the last two years. Klein led...

Kansas State and the Heisman

The Heisman and Kansas State don’t have much of a past together. For a while it looked like Wildcats senior quarterback Collin Klein might change that. He led the HeismanPundit/ Heisman Straw Poll for four weeks from mid-October until mid-November. If not for his team’s 52-24 debacle at Baylor, Klein would be giving the trophy [...]

For the second straight year, a Big 12 quarterback is considered one of the best players in all of college football. Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein was named a Heisman finalist after leading Kansas State to an 11-1 (8-1) record and Big 12 championship. During the year, Kansas State reached No. 1 in the BCS [...]

ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit outraged by Northern Illinois BCS Orange Bowl berth, shows clear bias

Northern Illinois' BCS Berth in the Orange Bowl to face ACC Champion Florida State was not too surprising to me. I had them projected in early morning hours on Sunday in contradiction to projections of ESPN and CBS. ESPN analysts seemed shocked and angered, especially Kirk Herbstreit. Northern Illinois became the first MAC team to earn a BCS Bowl berth. On the ESPN BCS Selection...
