Son of former Vol enters NCAA transfer portal; could fill a need for Tennessee
Robert Goddin-USA TODAY Sports

The son of a former Tennessee Vols player is reportedly entering the NCAA transfer portal.

According to 247Sports' Matt Zenitz, Ohio State Buckeyes running back Dallan Hayden is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Hayden, who is the son of former Vols running back Aaron Hayden, was a four-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting class. He's rushed for 663 yards and six touchdowns on 130 carries for the Buckeyes over the last two seasons. 553 of those rushing yards came during Hayden's true freshman season in 2022.

The Vols have a moderate need at running back ahead of the 2024 season. Tennessee has a talented running back group, which is led by junior Dylan Sampson, but there's a severe lack of experience in the room (outside of Sampson).

Hayden could provide some much-needed experience and depth for Tennessee -- especially with sophomore Cam Seldon sidelined (though he's expected to be healthy for fall camp).

It's not a must that Tennessee adds a running back from the portal. But it's one of the few positions where the Vols could certainly consider looking for some help.
