Tahj Washington – A True USC Trojan, Boosts NFL Stock In Holiday Bowl Performance
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Tahj Washington is a true Trojan. The USC Trojans wide receiver may have begun his career as a Memphis Tiger, but upon his arrival to campus in 2021, he has bled Cardinal and Gold. Through the ups and downs, he has always stood for Trojan values, and his dedication to the program has never wavered.

After the regular season ended, Washington declared for the NFL Draft and accepted a well-deserved invite to the East-West Shrine Game. For most players not playing in the College Football Playoff or a New Year’s Six Bowl Game, that would typically signal the end of their collegiate career.

Not Tahj Washington.

Tahj Washington – A True Trojan

Washington always had in his mind to play in the bowl game, even if it was a Holiday Bowl invitation with an undermanned USC team.

Fast forward to December 27th and Washington is not only showing the college football world, but also every NFL Scout, that he is a ball player, and a really good one at that.

Through one half in the Holiday Bowl against a Top-20 defense in Louisville, with a backup QB (Miller Moss is ballin’ with four first-half TDs), Washington has a stat line of four catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns.

Washington has surpassed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the first time in his career. He didn’t have to play in this game. But he is showing what it means to be a True Trojan and is also showing the skillset that he can provide an NFL roster.

He may not have 1st-round size or speed. He may not even go in the second or third rounds. But any team that takes a chance on him on Day 3 is going to get a player who has the ability to make an impact immediately.

Remember that guy named Amon-Ra St. Brown? He fell to the 4th round and now is a Top 10 receiver in the entire NFL. I’m not saying that Washington has the same trajectory, but he absolutely has the ability to surprise teams and fans. Tonight’s Holiday Bowl is putting that on full display for the world to see.
