Troy and South Alabama faced each other on Thursday night, for pride, a wrestling belt-style rivalry trophy, and important positioning in the Sun Belt title race. Troy's win brings them to 4-1 in league play, widening their lead on the West Division. 

Troy's next battle will be at ULM on November 11.

Here's what stood out in the Trojans' sixth straight win.

Gunnar Keeps Gunning

Gunnar Watson continues to show monumental improvement in his senior season. Watson threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in this win. All three of those touchdown passes were to sophomore wide receiver Chris Lewis. Watson is up to 17 touchdowns on the season with just four interceptions.

The Belt Stays Put...Again

Troy have now won the Battle for the Belt each of the last six seasons. 28-10 was their widest margin of victory against USA since 2020. The've now won nine of 12 battles these two have had since they both moved to the FBS.

Kimani Vidal, Troy's New Career Rushing Leader

Kimani Vidal has further cemented his place in Troy history after Thursday. Vidal ended the evening with 24 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown. That put him over 1,000 rushing yards on the season for the second-straight season, making him just the second player in Troy history with multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons. It also put him over 3,442 yards rushing as a Trojan, making him Troy's new leading career rusher.
