TCU Horned Frogs to Play Stanford in 2024 Season Opener

TCU will face 11 teams from the Power Four during their season, with their lone game against a non-Power Four opponent coming in Week 2 against Long Island University.

The Horned Frogs are 3-0 all-time against Stanford as they prepare for their first matchup since the two met in the Alamo Bowl in 2017, where Stanford opened the game with a 21-3 lead before the Horned Frogs stormed back to secure the 39-37 victory.

Horned Frogs, Cardinal Last Meeting in California

The last time the teams met at Stanford was in 2007 as TCU quarterback Andy Dalton led the Horned Frogs to a 38-36 victory behind his 344 passing yards and 3 total touchdowns.

The team will begin its season with a Friday night road game for the first time since the 2022 season when they easily defeated the Colorado Buffaloes 38-13.

TCU will now look to replicate the success of the 2022 season, which saw them go undefeated during the regular season before eventually losing to the Georgia Bulldogs in the national championship game.

Bouncing Back in 2024

Although the team is coming off a disappointing 2023 season in which they went just 5-7, the Horned Frogs have multiple key players returning who could make an immediate impact once the season begins.

Quarterback Josh Hoover will return after an up-and-down freshman campaign that saw him throw for 2,206 yards and 15 touchdowns, though he was also intercepted by the opposing team nine times in his five games.

TCU will also lean on wide receiver Savion Williams, who will be returning for his fifth year on the team after accumulating 573 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns during the 2023 season.

The team could also receive a significant boost from incoming transfers, as the Horned Frogs currently have the No. 23-ranked incoming transfer class which includes two four-star players and 19 three-star players.

TCU is currently predicted to finish its season around the middle of the Big 12 Conference, but key returning players and incoming transfers will surely look to carry the Horned Frogs to yet another surprising year.
