The Tennessee Volunteers will reportedly lose another talented player to the transfer portal. On Thursday, starting offensive lineman Gerald Mincey declared his intention to enter the portal.
Thank you Coach Heupel & all of the coaches + staff at Tennessee for all of the support over the last 2 years.I am forever grateful https://t.co/tZAAwiKkOu

Mincey came to Tennessee after the 2021 season, transferring in from the Florida Gators. In his first season in Knoxville, Mincey started 7 games at left tackle and appeared in 9. In 2023, Mincey moved over to the right side and started 6 games. The tackle dealt with injuries down the stretch but was a solid starter for much of the season.
The Vols have seen several contributors from the 2023 team head elsewhere, with Mincey being the latest. Several defensive backs have left , including Tamarion McDonald, Wesley Walker, and Doneiko Slaughter to name a few.
Talented edge rusher Tyler Baron as well as fellow offensive linemen Mo Clipper Jr. and Addison Nichols have also exited.
The Vols will likely turn to the portal to look for a Mincey replacement. Dayne Davis is the only player on the roster currently who has experience at right tackle. Four-star prospect Bennett Warren will be on campus soon, but the team is unlikely to throw a freshman right into the fire.
Expect the Vols to poke around in the portal for a veteran stopgap.
