Texas and Oklahoma the favorites for five-star OT

As a 6-foot-4, 285-pound five-star offensive tackle from Lewisville, TX, Michael Fasusi undoubtedly has the attention of the college football recruiting world.

He boasts nearly 40 offers and he's yet to play his senior season in high school. Schools from all over the country want his commitment, including the likes of Alabama, Texas A&M, Missouri, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Tennessee, among others.

Oklahoma and Texas are both also on Fasusi's offer sheet, and per On3’s Sam Spiegelman, and the Sooners and Longhorns are apparently the two favorites for his commitment at this juncture.

“You started with Texas and you have to bring up Oklahoma, those are two teams that have been staples in Fasusi’s recruitment since the beginning,” Spiegelman said.

To that point, Fasusi has visited both Texas and Oklahoma more than any other schools -- visiting both the Sooners and Longhorns for game days this past fall. He's also expected to take more visits in 2024.

Ultimately, as with any recruitment, it often comes down to positional coaches and who can create the best relationship with a recruit. In regard to Fasusi's decision, he'll have two great assistants to choose from.

Oklahoma offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh is somewhat of a legend at his position but Texas offensive coordinator and line coach Kyle Flood is no slouch either.

“When it’s all said and done, I expect this to be a battle between Oklahoma and Texas, Kyle Flood and Bill Bedenbaugh going head to head for one of the best offensive tackles in the country,” Spiegelman explained.

Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Fasusi is the No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2025 class and the No. 15 recruit overall.
