The heralded freshmen that have joined the LSU linebacker corps have fans excited about the future. Before those young bucks can take the field full time, redshirt junior Kevin Minter will do his part to lead a talented group of linebackers through the minefield that is the SEC. Now an upperclassmen, Minter understands what is expected of him.

Miles announced on Monday that running back Michael Ford is going through an appeal process to allow him to play. Ford has some academic issues that could keep him off the field for the 2012 season.
“There is some appeal process that’s being undertaken for those guys, and we’ll kind of have to wait to see how that all turns out as we get closer to the game,” Miles said...
Being a coach in the SEC isn’t easy. Aside from all the pressure that comes with having to figure out the X’s and O’s of coaching against some of the toughest competition in the country, there are also the challenges of recruiting. And with recruiting comes sitting down to dinner at a recruit’s house, which can lead to having to scoff down some pretty strange stuff.
LSU head coach Les Miles says it's unclear if running back Michael Ford or linebacker Taj Jones will play in LSU's season opener against North Texas this Saturday night.
Miles says the pair are appealing unspecified academic rulings that could keep them out of the game.
Ford led LSU with 756 yards rushing last season to go with seven touchdowns, while Jones is a projected...
QB- Aaron Murray, Jr., Georgia
This is really a toss up between Aaron Murray and Arkansas’ Tyler Wilson. I give a slight edge to the Bulldogs QB due to the fact that Georgia may have to throw the ball more than the Hogs in 2012. With Isaiah Crowell gone, Georgia doesn’t have a proven runner in the backfield. Arkansas on the other hand has potentially the best running...
Les Miles had hoped LSU could have a drama-free August this season.
It hasn't quite worked out that way, but the No. 3 Tigers expressed confidence on Monday that a season full of promise would not be derailed by the loss of their biggest star, the looming possibility of a couple other key players being sidelined by academic issues, or even the potential disruptions that could...

2011 was: a national title banner year-almost, they were the second to last team standing, only divisional rival Alabama was better
2012 will go smoothly if: the defense simply reloads and...
Linebacker Kwon Alexander is on campus at LSU after what many considered a signing day surprise. Many had the Oxford, Alabama product headed to Auburn, but Alexander elected to join a different breed of Tigers, the Baton Rouge variety. As the leader of the Oxford defense a season ago, Alexander knows first hand what type of players that program is producing.
Lamar Louis sat out most of his senior season, but the Breaux Bridge product got a head start on his college future by enrolling at LSU in January. Louis is one of several outstanding freshmen linebackers in Baton Rouge, so perhaps having a semester's head start will benefit the personable Louis.
LSU freshmen linebacker Trey Granier grew up cheering for the home state Tigers. Now his friends and family back him in Thibodaux, Louisiana have more than just a passing interest in the Purple and Gold. Granier has always wanted to be an LSU Tiger, so when he got the chance to put on his jersey for the first time, things just seemed to click.
