The TCU Horned Frogs are getting the recognition they deserve

It has been one heck of a season for the TCU Horned Frogs and they're not done yet. No. 3 TCU is one of just four teams in the College Football Playoff, joining No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Michigan, and No. 4 Ohio State.

Sure, the Horned Frogs have to have a bit of a sour taste in their mouths after losing to Kansas State in the Big Ten Championship game, but they can right that wrong in the CFP. They can also lick their wounds and hold on to the considerable personal hardware they pulled in at the 2022 College Football Awards.

TCU was a major player at the awards, coming away with the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Year award, the Home Depot Coach of the Year award, the Walter Camp National Coach of the Year Award, and the Jim Thorpe Award.

The National Quarterback of the Year award, of course, went to Horned Frogs signal caller Max Duggan, who is also one of the four finalists for this year's Heisman Trophy. Duggan had a tremendous season for TCU, throwing for 3,321 yards and 30 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He also rushed 112 times for 404 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

TCU head coach Sonny Dykes was, clearly, the recipient of both Coach of the Year awards after leading the Horned Frogs to an undefeated regular season and the CFP in only his first season on the job in Fort Worth.

The Jim Thorpe award goes to the top defensive back in college football, and that was awarded to TCU safety Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson who notched 35 tackles, one forced fumble, three interceptions, and 11 passes defended this season.

The Horned Frogs would certainly give these individual accolades up for just two more wins this season, but there is still realistically a world in which they clean up the individual awards and walk away with a National Championship.

TCU will play Michigan in the CFP Semifinal at Fiesta Bowl on December 31st. The winner will play either Georgia or Ohio State for the National Championship.
