In The Neutral Zone:
It was a hard haul to get up for the game but when the Buckeyes score on their very first run, I got a move on. I managed to get to the computer and set up and see the boys in time for the second drive. Braxton Miller to Devin Smith combination for the first touchdown of the season. Kenny Guiton gets the first successful 2 point conversion at the shoe for the year. The first couple of drives the boys looked great. Strong, and each play was finished off, all the little details were made. Noah Spence gets the tick for the first quarterback sack of the season in the shoe. Philly Brown had a hit that laid out a Bulls player, it was a legal hit. Philly did go check on the bloke and make sure all was OK. The Offence created a very nice hole for Jordan Hall to bolt 47 yards for a touchdown. Aussie Cameron Johnston had his first punt of the season for an almost 6 second hang time. I would love to see him try a field goal over 40 yards.
As the day went on the heat started to take its toll on many players. Braxton went out with massive cramps and Kenny Guiton came in the game until Braxton felt well enough. Yes I am from OSU but I think we have the best one two combination at quarterback. They are both good from the pocket and it doesn’t matter who starts or who takes the place of the other because they are both so comfortable and the flow is seamless.
There were some major penalties, which I am not sure are just silly mistakes, a young crew learning or what just back luck on that particular play. The one call that we all scratched our head about was if you lose your helmet you have to immediately go off the field. We got penalized for it and we all don’t get why.
The second half got sloppy in places, mistakes were made and they cost us,over 10 yards per flag. I do wonder if the weather played a part with not getting re-hydrated enough when coming off the field. It was over 100 degrees on the fields, Medicals should have been more on the heat issues.
It was an ugly win but it was a good test to see where were stood. It is early in the season but we still have some things to iron out, this group of young men will be together for a while, and anything is possible.
We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
On Saturday the 7th of September Ohio State welcomes the San Diego Aztecs to The Shoe for the first time.
See you on Saturday

In the first game of the 2013 season, the Ohio State Buckeyes showed how explosive their offense can be in the second year of Urban Meyer’s system. Here at the Empire, we are going to breakdown two of the Buckeyes five scores which went for over 40 yards and also the two-point conversions executed by back-up quarterback Kenny Guiton.
47 Yard TD Pass- Miller to Smith
Before you can be a starter let alone a star at Ohio State, you have to put on a hard hat, collect your lunch pail and join those sweating it out on special teams.
Almost every well-known Buckeye has played his way onto the first team based on what he did on the grunt squads that are neither offense nor defense. Several probably have cost themselves a starting job by not committing...
Sure, LeBron James never attended an institute of higher learning, nor did he play college basketball for any school, let alone at THE Ohio State University, that has not prevented the Buckeyes from given the Akron, Ohio, native his very own stall in the basketball team’s locker room. Ohio State is among the schools, Kentucky […]The post LeBron James given his own locker in Ohio...
LeBron James, once a high school phenom, didn’t go to college…thus, he didn’t play college basketball. But that hasn’t stopped the Ohio State Buckeyes from giving LeBron a locker stall inside their brand new basketball locker room.
Why? Well, they say it’s because James has given so much branded gear to the university that they want to be able to show it to recruits. It...

After helping the Ohio State Buckeyes win their first game of what should be a special season, Brutus the Buckeye did what any self-respecting mascot would do, he crashed a wedding.
Deadspin is reporting that Brutus ended up at a Columbus wedding, and from the looks of the photo, the wedding party had no problem with the mascot from their favorite team busting a move.

LeBron James is bringing his talents to... Columbus?
Technically, the two-time NBA champion is not going to be playing for Ohio State, but he now has a locker in the Buckeyes' locker room.
Ohio State has added the locker with James' name and hometown for several reasons - one of which is that the team has a large supply of team-branded LBJ material.
It’s good to see that Greg Oden signed with Miami, spent some time on South Beach, trained with LeBron and headed right…
Galion (OH) junior safety Cario Davison was one of the unofficial visitors at Ohio State's opening win over Buffalo last Saturday. Although not as well known as some of Ohio's top 2015 prospects, Davison is a player to watch.
We see what you are doing here, Urban Meyer. Ever the ultimate tactician in recruiting, Meyer has added LeBron James' name to the Ohio State locker room.
Celtic Jared Sullinger just walked into courtroom wearing a grey Buckeyes t-shirt, for his alma mater, Ohio State.

The Ohio State football team scored 40 points in its season-opening victory vs. Buffalo but Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes want to find better results on the offensive side of the football.
If LeBron James had gone to college, he has said he would have played for Ohio State. A Buckeyes fan his entire life, the team even dons LeBron-endorsed Nike gear. And the OSU football locker room has a new addition this season, a locker dedicated to the Heat star.
