UCLA LB Deon Hollins voices frustration with Pac-12 referees

Coming off the heals of a devastating 31-27 loss at home to Washington State on Saturday, UCLA linebacker Deon Hollins voiced his displeasure this the game's referees on Tuesday.

“Beating the referees and beating the other team is rough sometimes,” Hollins said.

Hollins was particularly upset about the officiating on the 21-yard touchdown pass with three seconds remaining that cost the Bruins a victory. When asked if he was held on the play, Hollins responded: “Absolutely, absolutely.”

When Hollins asked the referees in the game about the lack of calls, he did not receive the response he desired.

"He was saying, ‘That’s not holding, that’s just a good play,’ like snarky,” Hollins said. "It’s crazy."

Hollins may have a fair point. The Bruins had 13 penalties for 75 yards Saturday, while WSU only had nine for 45 yards.

Hollins, however, may have a solution to the problem.

"Maybe we should send the refs a gift basket," Hollins said. "I don’t know. I have no idea."
