Baylor was in need of a big win after falling to 1-7 in Big 12 play. The Bears found a way to win on the road and it was against one of the top defensive teams in the conference.
There was no two ways about it. Baylor basketball was desperate for a win. They were mired in a four game losing streak coming into Saturday’s game against West Virginia and 1-7 in conference play.
Baylor has dropped its last four games and its last seven of eight played since Big 12 play has begun. The Bears had a good start to the season, along with a good showing in Las Vegas, but Scott Drew's team appears to be a shell of what they are used to being.

Baylor picked up a nice win in the portal with the flip of Kentucky transfer wide receiver Hardley Gilmore. He was previously committed to Louisville but made the switch to Waco, giving the Bears another veteran option in the wide receiver room as they continue to reshape the offense.
Baylor has added another body up front with the signing of South Carolina transfer Zavion Hardy. The former No. 1 JUCO prospect in the 2025 class played in just one game this season and didn’t record any stats, but the Bears are clearly betting on what he could become, not what he’s done so far.
