Over my few months with Volunteer Country, I have developed an interest in the program as a whole. I'm buying what Josh Heupel is selling. With freak athletes like Joe Milton and Doneiko Slaughter in-house, who wouldn't? Part of this includes a heavy interest in certain players. One guy I've constantly found myself checking in on and looking at is Squirrel White.

In a wiry 5'10" 165-pound package, White may not be your average Power 5 Wideout. We have seen surpluses of guys like Quentin Johnston (6'3", 208) and White's teammate Bru McCoy (6'3", 220 pounds), but we haven't seen too many like Squirrel. However, the speed is uncanny, and White proved he could win against good defenses, as evidenced by his masterclass in the Orange Bowl against Clemson, where he tallied nine catches for 108 yards and a score. Squirrel is now included in a receiving group that lost Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman to the NFL but retains White, Ramel Keyton, and McCoy.

White displayed chemistry with quarterback Joe Milton III in that aforementioned Orange Bowl, a game that showed Heupel quite a lot about his group and the individuals in it. While we did not see the sophomore pass catcher in April's Orange and White game, we did see Squirrel tabbed as a preseason All-SEC Wideout by AthlonSports.com, with McCoy also included. If last season showed us anything, it's that this guy can fly and that he and Milton could be scary good together. In a well-oiled machine that is Heupel's scheme, the sky is the limit for most of the Volunteer playmakers, but White especially. With kickoff coming closer and closer, White and the Vols continue to put in the work necessary to build off of 2022.
