Yale defensive back Dathan Hickey enters NCAA transfer portal

Yale defensive back Dathan Hickey announced his entry into the transfer portal on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-1, 194-pound defensive back will have one year of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer. 

Hickey appeared in three games last season before suffering a season-ending injury. He saw action in two games this season, totaling four tackles against Holy Cross on Sept. 16. 

He ranked No. 2 in the Ivy League for interceptions and No. 24 in pass breakups in 2019. Over five seasons with the Bulldogs, Hickey totaled 101 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, five interceptions, 18 pass breakups, and five forced fumbles.

Yale (3-2, 1-1 Ivy) will host Penn (4-1, 1-1 Ivy) this weekend in a crucial Ivy League matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
