Louisville linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin has received plaudits for his ability on the field, but today the Commonwealth of Kentucky awarded him with one of its highest honors for his citizenship off of it. Mauldin was named a Kentucky Colonel by governor Steve Beshear.

During the third quarter of Saturday’s game against North Carolina State, Louisville senior linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin went down with what appeared to be a serious injury.
Mauldin was helped off of the field by the training staff. After evaluating his injury on the sidelines, Mauldin went with the trainers to the locker room and didn’t return.
Bobby Petrino doesn’t have to look far for leadership on defense.
Although Lorenzo Mauldin claims he’s not a verbal leader but he’s obviously the one that gets his teammates fired up — whether it be in the pre-game huddles where he’s yelling and dancing around or during games when he’s aggressively attacking the quarterback.
