The Philadelphia Eagles and second-round draft pick Mychal Kendricks have agreed to a four-year contract.
The Eagles announced the deal with the Cal linebacker on Tuesday. Terms were not disclosed.
Kendricks started every game for the Golden Bears over the last three years. He had 105 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season when he was the Pac-12 defensive player of the year.
The Philadelphia Eagles further addressed the need for help up the middle by selecting California ILB Mychal Kendricks (5’11, 239) with the 14th pick in the 2nd round (46th overall).
In the analysis of Kendricks on NFL.com, he is described as
He is a very solid tackler who punishes running backs when he fills the gap on inside runs.
National Football Post outlined Kendricks as...
Mychal Kendricks/LB/California: Fantastic closing speed, really able to fly to the ball when he commits. Used as a blitzing rusher fairly often, but only with mixed results. However, looked natural in limited opportunities as an edge rusher, very good use of hands. Good rip and a strong punch. Showed a good ability to get [...]

After adding DeMeco Ryans, the likelihood of the Eagles looking for a linebacker in the first round has diminished. The option can’t be completely ruled out, but bringing in Ryans and Andy Reid’s track record tend to make you think that way.
With two picks in the second round, this may be a more likely option for the Eagles to bring in an addition to their current group of linebackers...

Mychal Kendricks ILB California #30
Tough player who does a nice job fighting through traffic at the line of scrimmage. Does a nice job making himself small to slip through holes at the line and get into the backfield. Experience lining up at inside and weak-side linebacker. Very reliable wrap-up tackler. Quick off the snap; reasonably...
