UNC's Williams says team should be "ticked off"
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- So where does North Carolina go from here?
It may take the Tar Heels until lining up to face nationally-ranked Virginia on Saturday at the Dean Smith Center before they shake most of Wednesday's shocking 85-84 home loss to Duke at the buzzer. The pain that probably caused a lot of sleepless nights along Tobacco Road must resonate within the players 10-fold...

North Carolina Basketball: UNC upset at the buzzer by arch rival Duke
If you watched the game last night between the archrivals of Tobacco Road you can understand why it is the biggest rivalry in all of college basketball. And while I am not incline to say that the game between No. 5 AP & ESPN/USA Today North Carolina (20-4 ~ 7-2 in the ACC) and No. 9 ESPN/USA Today/No. 10 AP Duke (20-4 ~ 7-2 in the ACC) was an instant classic, the last seconds...

The 38-game home streak is the third-longest active streak in the nation. Only Connecticut (98) and Stanford (74) have longer streaks.

UNC-Duke Night: Here’s Dean Smith’s Recruiting Letter To Michael Jordan
UNC legend Michael Jordan did a little public reminiscing today via Twitter, probably because his Tar Heels meet arch rival Duke tonight.
Jordan tweeted a photo of a recruiting letter Dean Smith sent to him and his family on Sept. 30, 1980 after he first visited the UNC campus. It’s kind of folksy and we say that because Smith was apparently fond of using the word folks. The...

Dean Smith's recruiting letter to Michael Jordan
Now that is one piece of North Carolina basketball history right there. Fittingly, given it is a piece of North Carolina basketball history, the letter from then-Tar Heels head coach Dean Smith to Mr. and Mrs. James Jordan and Michael is housed at the Carolina Basketball Museum, where such relics should be placed. A pic [...]

Kendall Marshall is a Jedi
I have been saying this since last season. Now we have proof. The N&O’s Andrew Carter delves into one of the more amazing aspects of Kendall Marshall’s game, his court vision with a surprising nugget. Marshall actually has poor vision.
People who watch Kendall Marshall play basketball talk a lot about his vision, and how good it is, but in reality it has become...

It all starts with PG Marshall for No. 5 Tar Heels
Kendall Marshall has made himself fifth-ranked North Carolina's most irreplaceable player.
The sophomore point guard is second nationally in assists, averaging 9.8 assists per game. He's been the perfect floor leader for coach Roy Williams' fast-paced attack, leading the Tar Heels in transition with his see-everything court vision and precise passing.
He'll need...

No. 5 Duke 96, No. 22 North Carolina 56
Tricia Liston started hitting 3-pointers, and her Duke teammates quickly got into the act.
They all added up to one of the Blue Devils' biggest beatdowns of their top rival.
No. 5 Duke routed No. 22 North Carolina 96-56 on Monday night after Liston scored 16 of her 23 points during a decisive first-half run in which the Blue Devils seemingly couldn't miss.

No. 5 Tar Heels show signs of a champion
COLLEGE PARK, MD --- North Carolina needed a test like this.
The Tar Heels had been cruising fairly comfortably for a few weeks, but after a while a team can get stagnant in its growth. And not knowing everything about itself could lead to an early exit from the NCAA Tournament, clobbering a season of promise just like that.
UNC's 83-74 win at Maryland on Saturday wasn'...

Tyler Zeller shedding the 'soft' label
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Tyler Zeller doesnt listen to sports talk radio or read about his team in the newspapers or on the Internet. And thats probably a good thing.
The 7-foot senior center for North Carolina has been the subject of criticism when segments of the media and fans try to rationalize why the No. 6 Tar Heels arent invincible.
Carolina was supposed to cruise through its...
