Padron granted release from scholarship
SMU quarterback Kyle Padron has asked and received a release from his scholarship. Padron, who began 2011 as the Mustangs' starter, was pulled just a couple series into the season opener after consecutive turnovers. Padron injured his back halfway through the season and SMU was planning to use 2011 as his redshirt year. But now, he has decided to transfer.

Morse Power and the Prince
Sorry.
Two or three years ago, Michael Morse looked like another marginal major-leaguer who once had a short hot-streak. After reportedly having his last two seasons of arbitration-eligibility bought out by the Washington Nationals this weekend, Morse is now a millionaire (the reported amount is $10.5 million). It has been a long path to relevance for Morse. Of more relevance at...

The SMU Mustangs Cheerleaders
I had the pleasure of visiting SMU back in my college days. And might I just say that the females at that school were exemplary. I mean all of them were just so well groomed, highly classy, and you know, in college. It was a grand time.
So I knew that eventually I’d be posting cheerleaders from that school. I just didn’t know it’d be ten years later...

Pitt ends "hig octane" with a whimper
Just jumping right into it....
Tino Sunseri struggled. That's not particularly surprising, but his ineffectiveness against a middle-tier C-CUSA team was surprising. He was 19 of 28 for only 183 yards. As usual, most of his passes were intermediate routes or screen passes that fail to stretch the defense or take much pressure off the run game. He continued to hold the ball too...

Here's How To Snap Your Femur Playing Football
SMU's Jared Williams suffered a break of the largest bone in the human body in the fourth quarter of the Mustangs' BBVA Compass Bowl matchup against Pitt. The snap was loud enough to be heard on the sidelines (and, thus, ESPN's field mics) and left Pitt defender Andrew Taglianetti emotionally devastated. Get well soon, Jared. [ESPN]More »

Ole Miss Struggles to Win Against SMU
Ole Miss finally met its match in the SMU Mustangs when it comes to woeful shooting, but the Rebels did manage to pull out the 50-48 win, mostly behind a solid performance from the free throw line. Though the Rebels continued to struggle from the field, shooting just 34-percent on the night, they did sink 14-of-17 from the charity stripe. The solid performance from the foul line...

At one time, it appeared SMU might be the team in the BBVA Compass Bowl that would have to get past the loss of its coach. Instead, it's the Mustangs' opponent which has to do that.
Pittsburgh will play its first game since Todd Graham's abrupt departure and try to deny SMU coach June Jones his 100th collegiate victory Jan. 7 in Birmingham, Ala.
Jones was thought to...
