LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Josh Shaw has been an exemplary teammate and a valuable leader at Southern California, earning his fellow Trojans' trust and praise after transferring home to help his family two years ago.
His teammates and coaches say they had no reason to doubt the cornerback when he explained his two sprained ankles with an elaborate story about saving his nephew from...
ESPN’s John Anderson had some strong words on SportsCenter calling the USC Trojans a “Clown College” after listing their recent transgressions. It’s funny because most people would refer to ESPN as a Clown Station for thinking they report the news with stuff like this. [YouTube]

Steve Sarkisian saw a "great" practice from his team Wednesday morning on Howard Jones Field.
"I don't know what you guys were doing over here but I saw a heck of a practice," Sarkisian said as he addressed the dozens of media members in attendance.
There is still a buzz around USC with people looking for answers in regards to the Josh Shaw situation....
While USC's season is kicking off with a new coach and the beginning of the end of its NCAA scholarship restrictions, plenty of starters are back. They'll certainly remember their first opponent.
The Steve Sarkisian era begins Saturday night at the Coliseum against Fresno State, the team the Trojans ended their drama-filled, 10-win 2013 season against in the Las Vegas Bowl...

TweetEarlier, it was reported that USC Trojans defensive back Josh Shaw injured his ankles after he supposedly leapt from the second story balcony to rescue his drowning nephew.
But according to a USC law school alum, Shaw was hurt while trying to escape police after a domestic dispute:
Unfortunately, my sources are saying the Josh Shaw story is fake… no rescue. Still waiting on...
The USC Trojans are going to have to do without senior cornerback Josh Shaw for the immediate future, and as tough as that may be the reason is something fans can't be mad about. According to Shaw he jumped from a second story balcony to rescue his drowning nephew. In the process he injured both ankles (high ankle sprains) and will be out indefinitely. Can't be mad at a hero...
Josh Shaw is a 5th year senior, starter, and was named team captain for the USC Trojans this year. He is expected to be a big part of their secondary. After Saturday night, he can add “Hero” to his resume.
Per the USC Website:
While attending a family social function at his cousin’s apartment in his hometown of Palmdale, Shaw looked on from a second floor balcony to the...
Is Josh Shaw's story of rescuing drowning nephew true? USC Trojans coach Steve Sarkisian has received calls questioning it.
Hey gang! Let’s grab some links!
This is far more optimistic for the Purdue schedule than I am expecting!

USC Trojans cornerback Josh Shaw heroically saved his drowning cousin, sustaining ankles injuries in the process.
As far as freshmen classes go this, may be the most game-ready group to come through USC.
The likes of Adoree' Jackson and JuJu Smith have garnered the bulk of the attention during fall camp but inside the trenches is where history could be made in the season opener Saturday against Fresno State.
USC released its 2014 depth chart Sunday and slated at both offensive guard positions...
When USC hired Steve Sarkisian last offseason, the news was met with a general shrug.
There was a group of USC fans excited about the idea of Sark coming home, but across the nation it was viewed as an underwhelming hire for one of college football's best jobs.
As the 2014 season is set to kick off, the tone -- at least around Los Angeles -- has changed quite a bit as Sarkisian...

USC athletic director Pat Haden was not at USC's annual "Salute To Troy" event on campus Saturday night, and the Los Angeles Times is reporting that Haden has been hospitalized twice in the last two days because he hasn't been feeling well.
USC has not issued a comment on Haden's status.
USC athletic director Pat Haden missed an annual school event Saturday evening and has been hospitalized two times in the past two days, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times, citing "a person with knowledge of the situation."
Haden, 61, was absent from the on-campus "Salute to Troy" football kickoff event, the Times says. A source told the paper that...
Pound-for-pound Leonard Williams is the best player on the USC roster, and that carries a lot of weight.
The 6-5, 310-pound defensive lineman is a matchup nightmare for opposing offensive linemen. The junior is considered to be the best defensive lineman in the country and is projected to be a top-five pick in the NFL Draft. A natural defensive end, as a freshman he was moved inside...
JuJu Smith lined up wide to the left side of the formation at Howard Jones Field during practice on Thursday afternoon. As USC went through an 11-on-11 period at practice, the freshman wide receiver from Long Beach Poly High School ran a streak up the sideline.
Max Browne delivered the ball to Smith and the freshman, against one-on-one blanket coverage, went up and snatched the...
With the season opener exactly 10 days away, USC could be at less than full strength along the offensive line.
Starting guard Khaliel Rodgers, the school confirmed late Tuesday night, suffered a sprained knee during practice this week. He is expected to be sidelined for a period of 10-14 days.
I’m a little leery of the College Football Playoff selection committee. It includes USC athletic director Pat Haden, West Virginia athletic director Oliver Luck, the father of Andrew Luck, who lost twice to Ducks in 50-30 blowouts, Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez (the Badgers got dumped by the Ducks in the 2012 Rose Bowl), Condoleeza Rice, a Stanford professor, Archie Manning, a SEC...
