CORVALLIS - Washington used double-digit scoring from six players to overwhelm Oregon State and post a convincing 86-62 win over the Beavers Saturday to escape the state of Oregon with one win and one loss. C.J. Wilcox led the Huskies with 23 points, while Andrew Andrews scored 15, Nigel Williams-Goss 14, and Perris Blackwell 12. Shawn Kemp and Desmond Simmons scored 10 apiece for UW.
Two in a row for the Ducks, 5 games left. They certainly aren’t a top-10 team now, but they are beginning to at least resemble the team that started the season. Oregon shot 57% from the field, 29-51, 5-12 on 3’s. Washington shot 44%, 24-55, and only 4-17 behind the line. Oregon’s defense was especially effective on the Huskies’ leading scorer, holding CJ Wilcox to only...
EUGENE -- Wednesday night at Matthew Knight Arena will be senior guard Johnathan Loyd's last chance at the Washington Huskies in regular season play. Loyd spoke to media on Tuesday about the upcoming game and what it means to play a rival like the Huskies. Tipoff for the game is 6 p.m. and will be telecast on ESPN2.
The crowd seemed subdued at the start, perhaps because those who usually populate the “Dawg Pack” student section at Washington games were put off by a Saturday tipoff scheduled for the crack of noon.
But that hardly explains why the UW men’s basketball team, after a terrific start, repeatedly fell asleep for long stretches, blowing a nice lead and then failing to capitalize...
Tyrone Wallace scored 20 points, and California rallied from a 12-point first-half deficit for a 72-59 win over Washington on Saturday to remain on the edge of the Pac-12 Conference regular season title race.

Without hesitation, Desmond Simmons slid off his man and into the driving lane, planted his feet and waited to absorb the hit from Stanford's Chasson Randle.
It was clearly an offensive foul, and clearly the biggest play of the game for Washington.

Petrino specifically mentioned the need for defensive lineman. Tae Thibodeaux, a three star defensive lineman out of Louisiana will visited Louisville over the weekend and will also take...

Corona (Calif.) Centennial running back Tre Watson took his final official visit this past weekend to Washington and is closing in on a final decision.
Will Dissly had a decent idea he was going to verbally commit to Chris Petersen and the Washington Huskies on his official visit. Everything was already in place; he had the relationship with the coaching staff and Washington was a school he had set his sights on years earlier. Now - as it was with Petersen - Dissly's proposed move to Seattle was a matter of timing and fit.

A loss is a loss is a loss is a loss is a loss. But, while they are all equal in the final determination, this defeat was very different than the others for the Ducks in their five game losing streak. During this freefall, the Ducks have often looked completely overmatched physically and unprepared mentally.
But in this match-up...
SEATTLE - Washington used balanced scoring and held Oregon to under their season average on offense as they beat the Ducks 80-76 in front of 6748 fans at Alaska Airlines Arena. C.J. Wilcox led the Huskies' effort with 23 points, while Andrew Andrews added 17 and Perris Blackwell 15 points for the Huskies.
Now that the Washington Huskies have won nine games for the first time since 2000, it's time to look forward to 2014 and see exactly what new Head Coach Chris Petersen has to work with. There's no question Steve Sarkisian left Washington in a much better place than how he found it, and talent is found at nearly every position. How does it all break down? Here's how we see it.
Through five games this season guard Hikeem Stewart didn’t see much playing time at Washington, playing a total of 22 minutes with five of his six shot attempts and all five points scored coming in one game (a win over Eastern Washington). With the trio of Andrew Andrews, C.J. Wilcox and Nigel Williams-Goss in line to receive the majority of the backcourt minutes Stewart announced...
