Sean Abbott now shares with the late Andrew Symonds the record for the joint-fastest T20 hundred ever hit in England and the fourth fastest in T20 history after his 34-ball ton. Kent was at the receiving end as Abbott put on an exhibition of range-hitting for Surrey in front of 17,000 spectators.

He aggregated 30 runs in the 17th over of the innings as he smoked three sixes and three fours off statesman Kane Richardson. He drew level with Symonds thanks to a six in the penultimate over.

The all-rounder has whizzed past Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the list of quickest T20 centuries. The opener reached three figures in 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017. Notably, the swiftest to the landmark in T20s is Chris Gayle, who bludgeoned a ton in 30 balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2013. Rishabh Pant is second on the table as he took 32 balls to achieve the feat in Delhi’s game against Himachal Pradesh in 2018.
