Despite having world-class skills, getting regular matches in Indian cricket often comes down to luck — and no one proves that better than Kuldeep Yadav. Arguably the best spinner in the world right now, Kuldeep has been in and out of the Indian team despite his consistent match-winning performances.
According to the BCCI selection philosophy, India prefers an all-rounder at No. 8, someone who can contribute with the bat as well as the ball. Unfortunately, that means Kuldeep Yadav often becomes the scapegoat whenever the team looks for “balance.”
But when you compare the impact of a genuine wicket-taker like Kuldeep against a bits-and-pieces all-rounder, there’s no contest. With over 335 international wickets, Kuldeep has time and again turned matches single-handedly for India.
Yet, despite being one of the most effective spinners in the modern game, Kuldeep Yadav spends more time warming the bench than weaving magic on the field.
