Step aside, Alyssa Milano, the NFL has a brand new batch of female models the league is using to tout its new line of women’s apparel. And one of those models? Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
As part the marketing push to promote its new line of apparel for women, which features the tagline, “It’s My Team,” the NFL has enlisted the 57-year-old Rice in an ad that features her modeling a Cleveland Browns jersey. In the ad, Rice is said to “never miss a game or a chance to show off [her] team colors!” Rice also posted the following message on her Facebook page: “Supporting the NFL and showing my passion for the Cleveland Browns!”
For the “It’s My Team” marketing blitz, the NFL looked far and wide for women from varying backgrounds to promote the new line. Serena Williams, Melania Trump and Dancing With The Stars‘ Peta Murgatroyd are among the women joining Rice in the campaign. NFL’s director of apparel Rhiannon Madden said that the league wanted to show women “that you can be a [football] fan by what you wear to work, going to the gym or out at night with girlfriends,” adding that the campaign is “also a message of empowerment. It’s your team–not your guy’s team.”
