For the second time in a month, rumors have been swirling that Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki are engaged. Last month, Serena Williams’ hitting partner made everyone believe the power couple had taken the next step in their relationship with a prank on Twitter. Then on Friday, reports surfaced that Wozniacki showed up to the Brisbane International sporting a diamond ring on her left ring finger. According to McIlroy, the couple is not engaged. The world’s No. 1 golfer said that the rumors are untrue in a short statement on Friday afternoon. “On behalf of Rory McIlroy I would like to confirm that he has NOT become engaged to Caroline Wozniacki as was originally reported in Australian press,” the statement said according to The Score. “Rory is in Australia to support Caroline before he heads in January to Abu Dhabi.” Adding to the speculation earlier this week was this photo. As some of our commenters pointed out, you can see a tiny speck on Caroline’s left ring finger that could potentially be some sort of ring, but the photo is not nearly clear enough to tell. On one hand, I’m inclined to subscribe to the “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” theory. On the other hand, Rory and Woz seem to love the public spotlight and showing everyone how much they adore each other. In fact, it even gets sickening at times. Are they really the type of couple that would keep an engagement a secret? It seems unlikely. Photo credit: Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

Marshawn explains meaning behind 'Beast Mode' nickname

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch may not like to talk to the media. But that doesn’t mean he’s often at a loss for words. He recently sat down and spoke with former Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson, who now works for NFL Network as an analyst. The interview is being disseminated in several parts. The first of which featured Lynch speaking about why he likely won’t...

Jay Gruden takes another shot at RG3

Jay Gruden slighted Robert Griffin III when responding to critics who believe the former Heisman Trophy winner would be more successful in a different offensive scheme. RG3 has struggled in his limited action this season, throwing for 902 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions over six games in first-year head coach Gruden’s offense. He has...Read More

NFL’s Blandino: Browner’s hit could be reviewed in future

With one throw of the flag, a touchdown for the New England Patriots turned into a 15-yard penalty against them.   Brandon Browner’s hit on San Diego Chargers tight end Ladarius Green last Sunday has been the subject of a healthy debate. Many believe Browner didn’t lead with his head and shouldn’t have been flagged. Yet those defending the call claim it’s...

Report: Dodgers acquire Jimmy Rollins from Phillies

The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t waste much time replacing Hanley Ramirez at shortstop. According to multiple reports, the defending NL West champions have acquired veteran Jimmy Rollins from the Philadelphia Phillies (via CSN Philly). The interesting dynamic here is that Rollins waived his no-trade clause to go to the Dodgers. That has been a point of contention over the past couple...

Never underestimate the focus of a champion

After working for the Minnesota Timberwolves for six years, I got used to watching teams come into Target Center in Minneapolis, toy with the home team for 40 minutes and then finally get to the business of winning as the fourth quarter wound down. Teams turned it on like clockwork. It never occurred to me that such a thing took place in the NFL, but the Seattle Seahawks suddenly...
