The Turning is definitely going to be a unique movie and it will distant itself as one of the more bold attempts at capturing a short story imagined by an acclaimed author. This Australian film is in fact going to have a few short stories based on the work of Australian novelist Tim Winton and will be headed by 18 different directors. Including: Jonathan auf der Heide (“Fog”) Tony Ayres (“Cockleshell”) Jub Clerc (“Abbreviation”) Robert Connolly (“Aquifer”) Shaun Gladwell (“Family”) Rhys Graham (“Small Mercies”) Justin Kurzel (segment “Boner McPharlin’s Moll”) Yaron Lifschitz (“Immunity”) Anthony Lucas (“Damaged Goods”) Claire McCarthy (segment “The Turning”) Ian Meadows (“Defender”) Ashlee Page (“On Her Knees”) Stephen Page (“Sand”) Simon Stone (“Reunion”) Warwick Thornton (“Big World”) Marieka Walsh (“Ash Wednesday”) Mia Wasikowska (“Long, Clear View”) David Wenham (“Commission”) [IMDB]   Winton first broke through into the mainstream in 1984 with his award winning book Shallows. He later went on to win the Miles Franklin award 3 more times for Cloudstreet (1992), Dirt Music (2002), and Breath (2009).   He recieved a nomination for the Man Booker Prize for Fiction for The Riders in 1995, and was once again praised for his book Dirt Music in 2002. Both of these are currently being adapted for film. He is known to be one of the most beloved Australian novelist of all time.
