For Olympic distance runner Nick Symmonds, he needs things to help him cope with the grueling training that takes part for the Olympic trials. According to NBC, the thing for Symmonds is Paris Hilton, as he went out on a date with her.
Symmonds had been apart of the 2008 Olympics team when they went to Beijing. Now looking to make his run at London, he hopes to make the team again. The 28-year-old was in Beverly Hills until he said he received an email from Hilton, saying she’d like to meet him up somewhere.
With that, it was a date, and this is what Symmonds brought:
- A pink Timex Ironman watch.
- A package of SnoBalls, the pink-coconut covered Hostess snack he used to eat after Cub Scout meetings growing up in Boise.
- A pink bottle of Mr. Bubble bubble bath.
- A pink and white beach towel from the Beverly Hills Hotel.
- A pink luggage tag and rubber coin purse from the Beverly Hills Hotel.
- An assortment from Edelweiss Chocolates, the Beverly Hills landmark that has been the go-to spot for show-biz elite, from Audrey Hepburn to Hilton’s own mother, Kathy.
Symmonds specializes in the 800 and 1,500-meters and said he was nervous at first meeting the superstar.
“There were the first two or three minutes where I was thinking to myself, ‘I can’t believe I’m here sitting in The Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel having a gin and tonic with Paris Hilton, while she’s sipping a mint mojito.”
Symmonds then loosened up with the 31-year-old:
“We talked a lot about travel and how important family is to both of us. We talked about our pets, and I showed her a picture of my pet bunny Mortimer, who she instantly fell in love with. It was a really casual, fun date with a beautiful, highly-intelligent woman.”
Symmonds said after the date that it ranks right up there with him making his first Olympic-team.
Go get ‘em, Nick!
