The best R&B sophomore albums

In the music world, the sophomore album is sort of a test to see if the artist can surpass the success of a previous album, or to use it as a blueprint for a career of longevity. However, if an artist's debut album is a commercial success, sometimes it may be hard to follow-up after it, and if that second album is deemed unsuccessful, then it's often referred to as the "sophomore slump."

Luckily, there are a number of artists that didn't fall into that slump after their debuts. Some artists have amassed massive success with these projects that followed their introductory albums. For R&B fans, here is a list of some of the best sophomore albums.
