On Saturday, the sad news broke that singer/actress Whitney Houston was found dead at age 48.
In January 1991, Whitney Houston sang the National Anthem before Super Bowl XXV. It was earlier that month that the Persian Gulf War started, so during that particular year, "The Star-Spangled Banner" had additional meaning due to the men and women who were overseas fighting for our country.

Whitney Houston's rendition of the National Anthem is considered one of the greatest versions of the song ever sang, certainly at the Super Bowl.
