Adrian Newey claims he will continue working until Red Bull ‘wants’ him

Adrian Newey has been working with Red Bull since 2006. The aero-genius led the team to multiple dominant victories during the ground-effect era. Hence, the Englishman had previously mentioned that he had no plans to leave the sport anytime soon. Newey recalled that he wanted to be a designer since he was ten years old.

I enjoy [it]. Ever since I was 10 or so, certainly by 12, I wanted to be a designer – I don’t think I knew the word ‘engineer’ – in motor racing, and ideally, Formula 1. That’s what I [put] all my teenage years towards. Adrian Newey said, as reported by racingnews365.com.

Newey has enjoyed his stint so far working in F1, creating such capable machinery. Hence, he claimed that he would continue working as long he enjoyed it. Additionally, as long as the team wants the aero-genius, he will continue working at the pinnacle of motorsport. However, Newey revealed that he didn’t plan too far ahead regarding his stay in the sport.

I’ve hugely enjoyed it, and I continue to enjoy So I think as long as I continue to enjoy it and the team wants me then I’ll continue to do it for the moment and then we’ll have to see in the future. I don’t tend to plan too far forward. Adrian Newey noted.

Red Bull would ideally want Adrian Newey to continue working beyond the regulation changes to maximize potential. However, amidst growing tensions, the 65-year-old would naturally look over his options. As things currently are, Newey has multiple options for the coming season and would take a lot of knowledge to the rival teams. The Newey situation could develop rapidly in the coming hours.
