Audi signs Nico Hulkenberg for 2025 amidst Carlos Sainz uncertainty

Over the last few weeks, there have been a ton of rumors about Audi’s possible driver lineup for 2026, with the German manufacturer wanting to obtain their pair before the end of this season. Carlos Sainz and Nico Hulkenberg were the main drivers who were linked with the team.

Moreover as per Autosport, this Friday morning, it was announced by Haas that their German driver will be parting ways with them at the end of this season. Following this, Sauber the team that will be taken over by Audi from 2026, announced that Nico Hulkenberg will be driving for them from next year onwards. The German has signed a multi-year contract.

The 36-year-old has been on Audi F1 CEO, Andreas Seidl‘s shortlists for a long time, and finally, the outfit has managed to secure him. Audi, a German giant with now a German driver is creating a massive buzz. Now, what remains to be seen is who will be paired with Hulkenberg.

With the rumors about a possible ultimatum for Carlos Sainz, it seems to be only a matter of time before the Ausi announces their other driver. Hulkenberg’s resurgence in F1 is truly something to behold, and fans will hope he gets to shine from next year onward.

Nico Hulkenberg reveals why signing with Audi is ‘special’

Following the announcement, Nico Hulkenberg shared his thoughts on his future with Audi. The German revealed why it’s special for him to sign with them for the coming few years.

Hulkenberg deemed the signing a very precious moment.

The prospect of competing for Audi is something very special. When a German manufacturer enters Formula 1 with such determination, it is a unique opportunity. To represent the factory team of such a car brand with a power unit made in Germany is a great honour for me. Nico Hulkenberg said via Autosport

The 36-year-old looks ready to go and push for podiums and victories with Audi. Moreover, he also revealed his 2025 season with Sauber will also unlock old memories of his time with the team back in the mid-2010s. Keeping everything in view, exciting times are ahead of the vastly experienced German racer.
