Adrian Newey stole the spotlight when announcing his exit from Red Bull. Multiple people are still guessing what is up next for the aero-genius in Formula 1. Some believe that the 65-year-old might be hanging up his gloves, while others think differently. Regardless, Ferrari has remained closely interested in acquiring the technical wizard. Fred Vasseur was recently spotted having a hilarious reaction to the question of the Englishman joining Maranello.

Adrian Newey‘s exit from Red Bull by 2025 shocked everyone on the grid. The 65-year-old was on the radar of multiple teams to acquire if such a condition arose. Newey was offered a "blank cheque" by Ferrari and also better pay and "more freedoms" than Red Bull. However, the aero-genius remained silent over the rumors. Multiple sources claim that a late-career move to Ferrari might be in the works for the Briton.

Newey also reportedly met Fred Vasseur ahead of the Miami GP for a potential contract talk. Vasseur was recently spotted in public and one fan brought up the matter. The 55-year-old didn’t have many words to speak regarding the question. However, the Frenchman had a smug smile on his face and laughed at the question. Hence, Vasseur might be hinting at something without actually saying it.

Fred Vasseur refuses to comment on what Adrian Newey brings to the table

Fred Vasseur has been constantly questioned regarding the possible move in the coming future. The team principal has however maintained complete silence and has not left any loose ends. A majority of the grid remains unaware of where the aero-genius may land. The Frenchman did accept that the team needed to improve and recruit more people to develop the car. Additionally, the 55-year-old didn’t want to lose energy and time to fight with his colleagues at Ferrari.

"We have to improve, we have to recruit, we have to develop the car – we have a huge amount of work on the table, and I don’t want to lose my energy, my time in my budget to fight with my colleagues, that is not my approach at all," Fred Vasseur said, as reported by planetf1.com.

However, when questioned repeatedly regarding what Newey would bring to the teams in F1, Vasseur declined to comment. The team principal was aware that his comments could be manipulated and turned into a piece of big news for no reason at all. This could potentially sabotage any chances of the aero-genius joining Maranello. Hence, the 55-year-old is treading carefully to ensure the best-case scenario for the coming season.

"Theoretically, no, I have no [answer] to do on this because I know that you will be able to write pages on the two words that I could say there," Fred Vasseur concluded.

Ferrari has showcased a highly consistent start to the 2024 season with a race win as well. Adrian Newey’s entry to Maranello might not pay dividends by 2025. However, the aero-genius might interpret the regulation changes in 2026 very well. Hence, time will tell about how the 65-year-old’s future fares in the pinnacle of motorsport.
