49ers speak with Frank Gore Jr. at NFL Scouting Combine

According to Jason Aponte, the San Francisco 49ers have spoken with former Southern Mississippi running back Frank Gore Jr. at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Gore is the son of the 49ers' all-time leading rusher and a current football personnel advisor to the team.

The younger Gore amassed 2,513 rushing yards and 22 total touchdowns in his final two seasons with the Golden Eagles. During his senior year, he caught 27 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns.

Through four seasons at Southern Mississippi, Gore recorded 4,022 rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns on 759 carries. Additionally, he had 75 catches for 692 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.

In his final two collegiate seasons, Gore earned impressive overall grades from Pro Football Focus. He received a 91.9 overall grade in 2022 and an 88.0 overall grade in 2023, showing exceptional growth in his pass blocking (75.4 grade) during his final season.

San Francisco has also spoken with other running backs at the NFL Scouting Combine, reportedly including Jahwar Jordan from Louisville and Daijun Edwards from Georgia.
