Auburn lands Georgia State wide receiver in transfer portal
Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports

The Auburn Tigers have landed a quality receiver via the transfer portal. Per reports, the Tigers have secured Georgia State wide receiver Robert Lewis.

Lewis starred for the Panthers in 2023

Lewis was the Panthers’ leading receiver by a wide margin in 2023. The receiver came down with 70 catches for 877 yards and 7 touchdowns. Lewis had the 7th-most receiving yards in the Sun Belt and the 5th-most catches in the conference.

“I feel like Auburn is the right fit for me because of the scheme that they run could fit with me,” Lewis told On3. “While talking about football with Coach Davis, we were really on the same page about a lot of things regarding my tape. We were both saying the same thing but in different verbiage. Also with the role I will be tasked with while being in the receiver room, I feel like I could help boost them to another level.”

The former three-star prospect had options

Lewis was originally a three-star prospect, per the 247Sports Composite ranking. The receiver starred for Newton High School in Covington, GA, and committed to the Panthers back in 2019.

The receiver entered the transfer portal on December 4th. After entering, Lewis received official offers from the East Carolia Pirates, Cincinnati Bearcats, and others, in addition to the Tigers’ offer.

Lewis visited Auburn this weekend and it’s clear the campus and staff made an impression on the receiver.

Lewis is the first official addition the Tigers have made in the portal. Fellow receiver Malcolm Johnson Jr. recently announced his decision to enter the portal, so the addition of Lewis should lessen that blow.
