Brock Purdy could reunite with brother after UC Berkley extends offer to him to play QB for the University
Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Hold your horses as the Bay Area may soon be getting another Purdy at the quarterback position. Only, this time, it will be at the college football level and it will be Brock Purdy‘s brother, Chubba Purdy . The younger brother has made the decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal earlier on Thursday.

The University of California Berkley wasted no time in offering him a scholarship to play QB at the school, thus igniting the possibility of a reunion between the brothers in the Bay Area. Chubba Purdy played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers this season, he played in 12 games throwing for 382 yards, 2 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and had a QBR of 75.3.

In four years, he has had 85 passes completed for 846 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. He has managed to gain 315 yards through rushing, Chubba Purdy is a dual-threat QB as he can run just as well as he can throw the ball. However, he will be in a situation similar to Brock Purdy, as he will have to earn his position at UC Berkeley.

Chubba Purdy will have a lot of competition at UC Berkeley

The Golden Bears added two more quarterbacks to go against the current starter Fernando Mendoza. Head Coach of the team, Justin Wilcox, stated that the team is looking at a lot of options when it comes to quarterback and will make sure that the best man gets the job.

It will not be the first time that a Purdy has been in the position of an underdog. Brock Purdy’s rise from the last pick in the NFL Draft to being thrust into the role of a starting QB merely because he was the only option to, now becoming an MVP frontrunner, has been nothing short of inspirational. The NFL scriptwriters did go all out this season and have made it the year of the underdog.

All jokes aside, the San Francisco 49ers have the best record in the NFL owing to their QB’s performance this season. Brock Purdy and Chubba Purdy could become the saviors of football in the Bay Area if the former can step up and have a positive impact on the school’s record in the ACC.
