Browns’ Tony Fields II Finally Gets Back Into Action

It has been a long and frustrating last few weeks for linebacker Tony Fields II.

The Cleveland Browns rookie linebacker has been sidelined with lingering injury issues.

He already has an uphill battle for playing time, but the injuries have made it even more challenging for Fields.

Luckily, it seems he has finally put the issues behind him and can get back to playing football.

The fifth-round pick is expected to suit up for the preseason finale versus the Atlanta Falcons.

Getting Back To Practice

Training camp has not been fun for Fields who has been sidelined for a significant portion of it.

The rookie linebacker has already suffered two foot injuries since being drafted.

Although, Fields was able to get back into action for Friday’s practice.

He won’t get much time to impress the team with one preseason game left on the schedule.

There are only two weeks before the regular season begins, so Fields needs to make an impact quickly.

It doesn’t help his case that second-round pick linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is overshadowing the presence of Fields.

At this point, Fields has been a forgotten man on the Browns roster due to the injuries sidelining him.

Despite that, he’ll get a chance on Sunday to prove he’s ready to help the Browns roster.

Expectations For Fields

The Browns seen something in Fields’ game worth taking a chance on him.

During the 2020 season, Fields finished with 88 tackles, one sack, and one interception in nine games at West Virginia.

That was his first and only season at West Virginia, but Fields put together solid numbers for three years at Arizona.

He is an experienced linebacker that could make an impact on the Browns roster right away.

It seems like he’ll likely be a special teams player, but that could develop into something more soon.

Obviously, Fields missing preseason games and practices is going to slow him down out of the gate.

The Browns will get this final preseason game versus Atlanta to really see what Fields can do.

Fans shouldn’t expect anything more than a rotational type linebacker with the upside to be a starter if everything clicks into place.
