Cam Jones, Aaron Casey Helping Bloomington Community With Coat and Food Drive

Leaders of the Indiana football program are helping the Bloomington community this winter.

Indiana linebacker Aaron Casey and Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Cam Jones announced Wednesday that they have partnered with local organizations to collect new or gently used coats, non-perishable food items and monetary donations, which will be given to people in Bloomington.

Jones started this initiative last season when he was a senior on the football team, and now he's continuing the tradition with Casey, a team captain for the 2023 Hoosiers.

From now until Dec. 11, all donations can be sent to Cam Jones at 1 Lancer Lane in Kansas City, Missouri or 1280 N. College Ave. in Bloomington, Ind.

Jones and Casey shared a video Wednesday on social media detailing their plan to partner with Bloomington organizations to give back to the community.

Jones spearheaded a similar food and coat drive last year while he was injured.

"Once I got hurt, I had a lot of time to think," Jones said. "A lot was going through my mind, and I think, as humans, we become selfish. We focus on the things that we don't have rather than the things we do have. The path I go to take home, I always see a lot of homeless people outside or a lot of unfortunate people outside. The weather is getting cold, and I wanted to do something good for the community with the help of my team."

Here's a video Jones posted from the event last year.
