INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The NFL Combine can be very beneficial for NFL coaches who previously coached at the college level.

Las Vegas Raiders Offensive Line Coach James Cregg has that luxury, as the longtime O-line coach held coaching tenures at Tennessee, USC, and LSU.

Former LSU center Charles Turner III played under Cregg for two seasons before the coach returned to the NFL to serve as assistant O-line coach for the San Francisco 49ers. Turner, who has met with the Raiders, would have the chance to play under Cregg yet again if Las Vegas were to select him in next month's NFL Draft.

"That would be a blessing, man," Turner said at the NFL Combine on Saturday. "Coach Cregg gave me the opportunity of a lifetime, and I'll always love him for that. With him coming down to IMG and watching me work out and getting me an offer, it was just a true blessing.

"And him seeing the potential that I had, I could never thank him enough for the opportunity that he gave me."

While Cregg was instrumental in Turner's development in college, the prospect believes he could continue to help build his game at the professional level.

"[Cregg would] definitely help me a lot at the next level," Turner said. "Cregg helped me a lot in college as well. He can definitely mold me a little bit more, and I look forward to meeting up with him here."

Turner started all 13 games at center for the Tigers this past season, blocking for Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels while also helping lead LSU to the best scoring offense in the nation at 45.5 points per game, as well as total offensive yards per game at 543.5.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
