Chubba Purdy Flips Commitment for 2024 Season, Where is he going?
Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

After committing to the San Jose State Spartans, Chubba Purdy has flipped his commitment to the Nevada Wolf Pack on Monday afternoon. He is looking to begin getting the opportunity to be a consistent quarterback as he is with his third program in five years. Purdy began his collegiate career with the Florida State Seminoles in 2020 and played two seasons before transferring to the Nebraska Cornhukers prior to the 2022 season.

Chubba Purdy is the brother of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy but has not been awarded the same kind of success in the collegiate ranks. Through four years of action, he has gone 85-of-162 (52.5 completion percentage) for 846 yards with six touchdowns and seven interceptions.

It will be interesting to see if he can begin to find his footing with the Wolf Pack and get to the levels that his brother has reached.

How will Chubba Purdy do in Nevada?

The Nevada Wolf Pack finished the season 10th in the Mountain West with a 2-10 record and had terrible quarterback play. The trio of Brendon Lewis, AJ Bianco and Shane Illingworth combined to complete 55.4 percent of their passes with six touchdowns to 12 interceptions through the air.

Chubba Purdy has shown to be a decent force and should be able to win the starting spot on this team. The roster is pretty bare in terms of talent. While we have seen how he does against Atlantic Coast and Big Ten Conference defenses, playing in a Group of Five conference should help his numbers.

At this point, it feels like a team is going to use a Day 3 pick on him no matter what just to see if they can get the same production out of him like the 49ers were able to get out of his brother. It will be intriguing to see how he does but expect an uptick in his numbers as a result of leaving the Power Five.
