HC Jeff Tedford Back With Fresno State Ahead of Spring Practice

While Fresno State football head coach Jeff Tedford took time away from his program late last year to tend to his health, the former Mountain West coach of the year appears to be feeling much better.

December marked the third time that Tedford has cited health concerns in temporarily stepping away from coaching.

Tedford sat for a lengthy interview published last week with Fresno Bee sportswriter Robert Kuwada. In it, Tedford indicated that he returned to work the Monday after Fresno State won the New Mexico Bowl over New Mexico State on December 16. Tim Skipper was the Bulldogs' interim head coach in Tedford's stead.

Since returning, Tedford has been involved in securing the Bulldogs' 2024 signing class as well as preparing for the spring and upcoming regular season in August. 

“You know, health is something you don’t have control over...It just happened to be an untimely situation, but I’m motivated and excited to continue," Tedford told Kuwada of his absence. 

The Bulldogs finished the 2023 season 9-4, winning their fifth bowl game since 2017. 

Fresno State's spring practice is set to begin on March 15. Tedford is under contract with Fresno State through 2027.
