Despite currently being without a head coach, the Oklahoma State Cowboys are active in the college basketball transfer portal. Things have yet to ramp up as the NCAA Tournament and NIT are just now both getting underway.

While the Cowboys are expecting outgoing transfers to leave the program, bringing a new coach in with new transfers will allow Oklahoma State to get a bit of a culture reset. With Mike Boynton out, assistant coaches still on staff -- hoping to be retained by the new head coach -- will continue recruiting to keep improving the program.

The transfer portal allows for Oklahoma State to have a quicker-than-normal program turnaround, one of the biggest benefits of the new-look college basketball scene. The program has reached out to Drexel transfer forward Amari Williams, who also entered his name into the 2024 NBA Draft pool, according to Joe Tipton of On3.

The 6-foot-10 senior averaged 12.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.8 blocks per game in 32 starts this past season. He's spent all four years of his college basketball career with Drexel.

Oklahoma State is one of many, many programs that have reached out to the graduate transfer. He'd be a huge addition to an Oklahoma State program that will look immensely different next fall.

The former unranked prospect is listed a four-star transfer, and he would add a big veteran presence to a program in need of leadership as a new era is coming.

Of course, Oklahoma State not having a current head coach hurts their chances of landing Williams, but there are going to be plenty of players hitting the portal as their respective teams are knocked out of postseason play. If the Cowboys can secure a solid head coach before the big wave of portal players, they should be able to secure a new-look roster ready to compete in an incredibly talented Big 12 conference.
