Pitt has reached out to another transfer.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has confirmed that the Panthers staff recently contacted Saint Louis transfer Gibson Jimerson, as first reported by 247HSHoops. Jimerson is a 6-foot-5, 215-pound wing out of Richmond, Virginia who has played in each of the last five seasons for the Bilikens. Jimerson started at least 33 games in each of the last three seasons, hitting at least 79 three pointers in all three seasons. This year, he averaged 15.8 points per game, the second highest of his career.

He hit at least 2.4 three pointers per game in four of his five seasons with the Bilikens, becoming the program’s all-time leader in three pointers made along the way. He has one year of eligibility remaining. Jimerson gained an extra year of eligibility back after missing significant time in 2019 because of an injury.

Jimerson appears to be an ideal candidate for Pitt to bring in and handle lots of responsibility on the wing. However, Pitt isn’t the only team in on Jimerson. After initially hearing from 12 schools in the portal including Kansas, Oklahoma, Virginia, DePaul, and others, Jimerson has recently heard from West Virginia, Indiana, Memphis, Clemson, UCLA, Washington, and Texas A&M in addition to the Panthers.

Pitt is looking to add onto the roster around the perimeter. With Blake Hinson finishing his collegiate career, the Panthers will try their best to replace his three-point shooting excellence in the portal. Pitt currently has wings Zack Austin and Jorge Diaz-Graham on roster. Austin shot a career-low 30% from three-point range this season, while Diaz-Graham was sidelined due to injury and missed a large amount of the year. In his 16 games played, Diaz-Graham hit 29% of his three-point tries.
