Pitt women’s basketball and head coach Tony Verdi have been actively retooling the Panthers’ roster in the transfer portal.

In doing so, Pitt has added another high-major transfer in Brooklynn Miles from Kentucky, she announced via Instagram. She joins the Panthers with one year of eligibility remaining.

Last season as a junior, Miles made 27 starts, averaging 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. The guard also totaled a team-high 96 assists and 38 steals.

Miles, who stands at 5-5, converted 38.8 percent of her shots from the floor and added eight triples.

The point guard stayed within the SEC after transferring out of Tennessee where she spent the previous two seasons. In 56 total games with the Lady Vols, she averaged 1.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists. During her sophomore campaign, she shot 46.7 percent from the field.

With Tennessee, Miles appeared in all six NCAA Tournament games the Lady Vols appeared in as they made back-to-back Sweet 16s.

The Frankfort, Ky. native was the 20th-ranked point guard out of the 2021 class, according to ESPNW.

At the conclusion of her senior season in high school, Miles was named Miss Kentucky Basketball and was the Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year after compiling 15.8 points, 5.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game.

Miles joins Pitt’s portal recruiting class after Clemson transfer forward MaKayla Elmore committed on April 11.

Pitt was in need of some talent from the portal after losing forward Gabby Hutcherson, forward Rapuluchi Ayodele, All-ACC forward Liatu King and guard Jasmine Timmerson.

Verdi and his staff will continue to pursue the portal after an 8-24 (2-16 ACC) season in what was the head coach’s first year with the Panthers.
